I’m a licensed psychologist in Georgia and Alabama, and I hold the appropriate PSYPACT authorizations to practice via telepsychology or temporarily in-person in 40 other states. Get to know Dr. Zito
Dr. Zito received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she double majored in Psychology and Legal Studies and was a Mercile J. Lee (formerly Powers-Knapp) Scholar. While maintaining a 4.0 grade point average throughout her graduate level education, she earned her master’s degree in Professional Counseling and doctorate (PhD) in Counseling Psychology from the University of Georgia. She completed her American Psychological Association (APA) accredited predoctoral internship in Clinical Psychology in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Federal Bureau of Prisons and her postdoctoral residency in Forensic Psychology at Emory University School of Medicine.
Prior to founding A to Z Psychology LLC, Dr. Zito was employed as a Forensic Psychologist for the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD). She is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), Georgia Psychological Association (GPA), and Alabama Psychological Association (aPA), as well as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Emory University School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She also serves as a member of the GPA Ethics Committee; and she has been a guest lecturer/expert witness at Emory University School of Law.
Dr. Zito’s professional background is unique, in that it spans forensic, clinical, and counseling psychology. She has received training in forensic, psychological, and psychoeducational evaluation, as well as suicide risk assessment, competency restoration, and individual and group mental health, substance abuse, and sex offender treatment. She has extensive experience completing evaluations in legal cases involving both civilians and veterans. Dr. Zito has also been deposed as an expert witness, and she has provided expert witness testimony in multiple state and federal courts.
Dr. Zito has been retained by defense and prosecuting/plaintiff attorneys, as well as appointed or requested by state and federal judges. She has worked with individuals involved in the legal system for various reasons, including, but not limited to, murder (including capital/death penalty) and other homicide crimes; assault; stalking; terroristic threats and acts; non-contact and contact sex offenses involving children and adults; theft; armed robbery (including bank robbery); burglary; drug possession, distribution, and trafficking; illegal possession of guns and other weapons (including explosives); fraud (including fraud involving taxes, PPP loans, and identities); other financial crimes (including money laundering); domestic violence; arson; kidnapping; trespassing; false imprisonment; property damage; driving offenses; abuse and neglect of children, adults, and animals; offenses involving the Postal Service; and catastrophic injury. Her work has been described as thorough, knowledgeable, exceptional, credible, and ethical.
